CMHIMP

We respect the integrity of those who do not wish to include psychotropic medications as part of their treatment regimen. As Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Practitioners (CMHIMP), we understand the functional efficacy of many vitamins, minerals, and substances that studies have shown to be at least as effective as many popular anxiety and depression medications.

Treatment Modalities

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

The “Gibson guitar” of treatment modalities, in that it can work for pretty much anyone at any skill level. CBT teaches us to learn how to think about our thoughts. Furthermore, it teaches us how to recognize that not every thought needs to be thought about. CBT treatment helps us break out of the negative feedback loops that plague day to day life.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Finding yourself on autopilot, easily irritable, and having no time for yourself? DBT is amazing in that it Integrates skills of mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness (boundaries and assertive communication), distress tolerance, and emotional regulation to create more balanced and present you. DBT focuses on accessing your ‘wise mind,’ which is simply the negotiation of your emotional and logical thought processes.

Positive Psychology

We are one of the few practices that understands “The Science of Happy.” Positive Psychology is propped up by 3 pillars- Forgiveness, Gratitude, and Humility. We help individuals properly and successfully integrate these three elements into their lives in such a way where happiness is not just probable, but inevitable.

Rational-Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT)

REBT is an advanced form of CBT. REBT helps us check if our emotional experience is congruent to the actual situation. REBT helps us recognize that, while an angry response may be rational, the intensity and duration of it may not. REBT allows us to choose our reactions rather than suffer from them.

Gestalt Therapy

Finding the same situations happen over and over again? This form of therapy helps clients focus on the present and understand what is really happening in their lives right now, rather than what they may perceive to be happening based on past experience. Instead of simply talking about past situations, clients are encouraged to experience them, perhaps through re-enactment. If a part of you is stuck in the past, use this modality. Effective with ‘inner-child work.’

Forensic Psychotherapy

Many of us are stuck, but have no idea where or why we are stuck. Forensic psychotherapy is a psychoeducational approach to therapy, which works to helps us dive deep into why we are the way we are in the first place, and then uses REBT or EMDR to fix the identified problem. While this modality is not for everyone, it absolutely is ideal for those determined to better understand why they are the way they are, and recognizing the current impact of past experiences.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

I’m not sure who is more impatient- us or our patients! SFBT is perfect for individuals who want to experience results ASAP. If you do not necessarily care to know why you are the way you are, but you are determined to become who you want to be, go with SFBT. This modality is most helpful for goal oriented, career-focused individuals.

Existential/Humanistic Therapy

Existential therapy focuses on free will, self-determination, and the search for meaning. The approach emphasizes your capacity to make rational choices and to develop to your maximum potential. The goal of this therapy is to work to make authentic, meaningful, and self-directed choices about how to live. Interventions often aim to increase self-awareness and self-understanding. This is a great option for those who understand their strengths, but do not yet know how to create a sense of purpose.

Couples/ Family therapy

We also address the behaviors of all family members and the way these behaviors affect not only individual family members, but also relationships between family members and the family unit as a whole. This form of therapy is normally short-term therapy consisting of an average of 12 solution-focused sessions. More sessions may be required, however, depending on the nature and severity of the problem(s).
